Are You A Winner?
“You don’t always get what you want, the universe gives you what you need”
What are the odds of winning the lottery or even just a raffle prize?
I remember a time when I attended the re-launch party of the Women's Network Australian. I borrowed a non-orange cocktail dress from a friend and showed up to the event with a big smile and an open heart. In the event, I had also donated one of my Breakthrough programs and was interested to see who I would get to spend some time with.
Not being a subscriber of the 'set really clear objectives' before you walk into a room philosophy. I prefer to tap into the universal laws and let them decide what is right for me.
I bought some raffle tickets to donate to the very worthy cause ‘Share The Dignity’ charity I quietly connected with lovey people and indulged in some champagne.
When the prize draw started there were two prizes I was interested in, a piece of jewelry and the massage basket. I did do a little bit of visualisation simply asking for the right prize for me, to come my way if it was meant to be for me.
The result was a little unexpected.
You see we were also in the room with a volleyball legend. Five-time Olympian and Gold Medalist no less, Natalie Cook, who was not only a vivacious speaker but also a generous woman. She spent three times more than the 90-mins that she planned to stay. There was a boxed golden volleyball signed by the champion herself (which I discovered later is something that the coordinators had to beg for).
Winning the ball was weird. First was Yeah me!! I won the top prize!! The most valued and sought after one.
However, I had my eye on the massage, (my back is always sore). Whilst I wasn’t disappointed, the second thought was, “What am I going to do with it!”
I really didn’t know what I was going to ‘DO” with an ornamental trophy ball.
Trinkets and souvenirs are not my things. The only things I collect are practical ones.
Interesting...
Fighting off others wishing to take it off my hands if I didn't 'really' want it, at the end of the night, I took it home asking for some insight as to WHY I had won it, rather than the massage treatment.
You see when a symbolic item comes into my life I like to understand the deeper meaning it brings with it.
Two thoughts came to me overnight.
First: I was reminded that we don’t always get WHAT we want WHEN we want it, but if we consistently show up with a genuine desire to serve others and share our gifts, we will always be a winner.
I wholeheartedly believe and teach that eventually, the Universal Law of Rhythm will kick in for us when the cycle of time has circled around.
Additionally though, and rather personally, it’s a sign of what lies ahead for me.
Second: I have goals and dreams to reach and serve more women struggling through their lives.
The ball and background story from Natalie will serve as a beacon of golden light in any time of doubt I may have. I will always be a winner when I'm on my own path.
So my message to pass on today is this…
Keep dreaming big folks, follow (and believe) the signs that are supporting you, and provide the signposts along the way, showing you that you are on the right path.
‘Go For [Your] Gold’
- Don't get distracted by others, find the symbols to remind you of your goals, and keep your eye on your own ball game.
- Don’t get waylaid by shiny projects, be consistent and take intentional steps every day.
- Be open to how and WHAT success is and the associated milestones along the way.
Then You WILL be a winner.
What are your symbols and physical motivators to remind you of your big goals and dreams?
